Port Orleans Riverside

Missy RyanDecember 6, 2016po1Looking to stay at a moderate resort that has all the beauty of a deluxe resort without the large price tag attached? If so, Port Orleans Riverside is a great compromise. One of the nice things about Port Orleans Riverside is that it will accommodate a family of 5. This is great for larger families who do not want to jump into the higher pricing of a suite. The rooms are situated so that a family of 5 can sleep comfortably but still have some space to get ready and not fall over one another or suitcases.Port Orleans Riverside rooms do not appear unique in the sense that they not only have the 2 standard size queen beds, but beneath the TV you will notice that a murphy bed pulls down from the wall. This made it very nice for me during a recent trip. There were 3 adults in the party and 2 children. I liked the fact that we could all be in the same room and stay at a nice resort without breaking the bank. Rooms are also equipped with a small table with 2 chairs, refrigerator, a curtain that keeps the sink and bathroom separate from the sleeping area which is great for some added privacy.po2The resort itself draws on the lifestyle and landscape of the Mississippi River. Riverside is subdivided into 2 areas; the mansion area and the bayou area.As you walk through the grounds it is surrounded by large and lush trees and bushes. The paths are frequently used for bike trails and carriage rides. There are also fishing holes and several pools to choose from on property. Riverside Food Court houses a working cotton press powered by a 32 foot water wheel. I was in awe just looking and taking several snap shots of this beautiful atmosphere! Located right in front of the food court you will also find a water taxi that will take you right to Disney Springs. We enjoyed this short ride down the river. The views are beautiful and breathtaking. While floating down you will pass French Quarter and also get a glimpse of the Tree House resorts which are incredible. The water taxi operates from morning until about 4:30pm.From the moment you step onto the property at Riverside you are taken back to a time of Historical Southern Living. Southern Belles are there to greet you and are always ready and willing to pose for a photo opportunity. With their elaborate dresses, umbrella’s in hand, and charming accents, you are sure to feel the famous Southern Hospitality. The lobby is another extension of the resort’s beauty, with high ceilings, low chandeliers and love seats that are scattered throughout the lobby inviting guests to sit and relax.po3Guests have the opportunity to experience dining at Boatswright Restaurant, shop for merchandise at Fulton’s General Store, take advantage of child care for an added fee, and also have access to a 24 hour laundry and cleaning services (fee applies). While I did not take advantage of the cleaning, laundry or childcare, I did fully enjoy my meal at Boatswright, the food court, and even found a stroller at the general store for a guest traveling with me that was in need for one during their trip.If you are thinking about traveling to Walt Disney World and Port Orleans Riverside seems like it would be a great fit for you, please contact me at missyr@wishesfamilytravel.comI would love to answer any questions you may have and help you plan a magical trip for you and your family. You can also follow me on Facebook.I am trained, traveled and trusted!!
